Just installed on my air, the icon bounces, but doesnt work.

seems like there should be some kind of video for these things!

I am new to knots and very interested in them. This is the best app Ive seen for knot tying.

This application does not work on your Mac computer! I would suggest Knots by Grog - its a better application and at least works!

I own and love this app for iOS on my ipad. Its got a lot of great knots and a simple, striaght forward interface, along with a lot of nice features, like the ability to create a list of favorites (great for keeping track of those knots you need to practice more). *However*, though all the basic content and features of the ipad app are here in the OSX version, it just doesnt seem quite finished. For example, the app doesnt seem properly sized to be displayed on the screen of my 11" macbook air (both the horizontal and the vertical scroll bars never go away, even with the window sized to the max; indeed, though I have room on my screen to expand the window horizontally and thereby make the horizontal scroll bar disappear, the app only lets me expand the window to a certain point); and theres no support for gestures (e.g., support for three-fingered navigation through the menus and steps of the knot instructions would be nice). Perhaps the window sizing issue and support for gestures will come in future updates; until then, I cant help but be disappointed.

Great simple app that is easy to use and very clear. No bugs so far. To find a knot guide at Barnes and Noble it is going to cost you around $4.99-$9.99, so this app at $2.99 is a great deal. If youre anything like me, and are terrible at making knots, this app is for you! Concise and clear instructions.

My title says it all. I have wanted to find a clear knot guide. Ive had books with good drawing, but sometimes the arrows and directional signs confused me and led me astray. The different colors of rope combined with the colors for the directional guides make all the difference. Also the descriptions for each knot for its use and stength capability is helpful. Additional definitions for the terminology are helpful too. Just great.

I am a USCG Licensed Master and a professional sailing instructor. This is the best knot teaching tool I have ever seen. I highly recommend it.

Easy to understand and navigate, clear illustrations, and info about each knot. I have noticed that there is a couple identical knots when a knot is commonly known by multiple names (ex, Rosendahl bend and zepplin bend are the same knot). I think theres only a couple like this though, and the app is still well worth the 2.99 I paid. It was very handy during my time commercial fishing in NW Washington, I highly recommend this to anyone needing to do more than tie their shoes

Please allow the left and right arrow keys to advance and reverse through the steps for tying. Right now this single flaw has kept me using Animated Knots by Grog on the web more than this app, because that is what it offers (in addition to a great selection of knots). Perhaps also ABOK numbers, and Shift-L/R to go back to the menu, with the cursor advancing the menu up and down when it is near the top or bottom. Using that thin scroll bar can be tiring when youre trying to compare two knots or need to compile a list of favorites. ;) Good selection of knots, though -- I think the Mooring Hitch, Adjustable Bend/Loop, Icicle Hitch, Zeppelin Bend/Loop and Water Bowline should be taught in primary school. :D

This is basically a good app and would be worth five stars if it was developed a little more. Its got lots of knots, and the step-by-step views are good for teaching. But it has the look and feel of a minimalist app; a lot of functions I take for granted are missing. For instance, theres no help file, so I had to guess and play around to discover things like how to add knots to the favorites menu. Also theres no way to get a full-screen view or even increase the size of the window. I hope they add those things to a later revision.

I bought it. Didn’t work on my computers or my iPad. Waste of money.

Does not run on my 2011 MBP 2.5 GHz 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3 (Mavericks 10.9.1) Works on iPhone only. On my mac, it just bounces its icon in the dock for about 30 seconds then stops bouncing. The only option is to Force Close. I recommend not buying this app until it’s fixed. I’ll be the first to praise it if it works.

Icon looks great, bounces but never opens. Why hasn’t developer fixed?????????

I downloaded to my laptop and worked great - a very useful app - but then downloaded a version for my iPhone and my laptop version stopped working. My guess is the iPhone version overwrote the laptop version. Now there is no way to “update” my laptop version. Developer needs to come out with different names for the different platform versions.

purchased on the 24th and the apps icon just bounces and does not open. Please fix or get money back!!!!!

On Mavericks, this app hangs at launch, with just a bouncing dock icon and the spiraling rainbow ball of death. No specific support for this app on their website. Please update, or take down the app, and refund if there is no intention of it working.
